Hi, welcome to our practice. I set up Austen Road Dental Practice in 2008. With over 20 years' experience in clinical dentistry I am highly skilled at communications and able to help anxious patients overcome their fear of dental treatment. I also care deeply about working with children emphasising the need for preventive care. Always keen to learn new things; I am passionately committed to updating my skills and regularly attend courses in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
Outside of dentistry I devote my time to family and friends and enjoy playing piano and practising karate.
I was very honoured to be invited to join the team at Austen Road Dental Practice in April 2014 especially as it was a complete change of environment and role for me. However I'm delighted that my previous career as an IT Project and Service Manager, latterly managing quality and efficiency projects has enabled me to apply this experience to assist Tara in her practice.
Outside of working hours I enjoy riding my horse and pandering to the needs of my cats and chickens.
I joined the practice in October 2017 after a very short retirement from my teaching career at Surrey County Council! I love meeting and greeting patients and putting them at ease in the tranquil practice environment.
Outside of work I can be found with friends and family enjoying a nice home cooked meal or at the theatre, cinema or out and about rambling in the beautiful Surrey countryside. I also like to put my green fingers to work gardening, tending to my allotment or assisting in judging the Guildford in Bloom schools’ competition.
I gained my BSc in Dental Therapy from the University of Birmingham. I particularly enjoy providing support and treatment to patients experiencing gum disease and inflammation. Whilst I aim to deliver a high standard of periodontal treatment I am also keen to emphasise the benefit of good oral hygiene and effective cleaning.
Away from work I enjoy Pilates classes and love to travel.
